Assassin's Creed: Victory - 10 Things We Can't Wait To See

2. If They've Ditched The Multiplayer

Did you play Unity's multiplayer? How about Brotherhood's when it was first introduced? Even back in 2010 the idea of taking a solo stealth experience that came into its own when you were deep behind enemy lines, dispatching wayward goons and skewering your target before darting off up a nearby building never really felt at home when everyone else was doing the same. Luckily Ubisoft implemented a far cooler cat n' mouse premise where everyone involved had specific targets to take out, whilst also being hunted themselves. The only way you'd win was by using your wits to spot both prey and predator, plant decoys to fool people and keep yourself forever on your toes - not moving too fast to give anything away. It was a fun diversion, sure, but Unity's big push was for a Tenchu Z-like 'seamless experience' where you and up to three friends tackled missions simultaneously, leading to one hell of a mess when the game couldn't balance its framerate, A.I. patterns or states of alert for each player whatsoever. In the end whether it's last year's mess or the previous three game's more natural approach - there's no way it wouldn't be better for the core experience if whatever assets and money peddled into these components wasn't just used to further refine the solo experience.
