Assassin's Creed: Victory Wishlist - 10 Things Fans Demand

2. Drop The Multiplayer

Let's be honest, all the fake celebrity voiceover adverts that preceded the launch of AC felt like the most un-Assassin's Creed thing ever. Stealth is not something undertaken by a group of people - Tenchu Z's failed online mode could've told you that - and even if you can overcome the A.I. problems where enemy guards are reacting to a variety of alert states all co-dependant in individual players' states of visibility, it'll still fall apart spectacularly thanks to only 5% of the online population taking these missions seriously. The only reason solo titles go multiplayer is to increase longevity and the time a buyer will hold onto something before trading it in - or to ensure through multiplayer add-ons that the developer can recoup their development costs. Now obviously AC is one of the most expensive franchises to develop for, but somewhere along the line they have to balance their gameplay goals with how that's going to be perceived by fans of the franchise. AC does not need multiplayer, and it never did. The series can be all about the solo experience through and through, something that would be a breath of fresh air more than ever in today's multiplayer-focussed landscape.
