Assassin's Creed: Victory Wishlist - 10 Things Fans Demand

3. No Micro-Transactions, DLC Or Companion Apps

Okay let's clarify a little - 'no DLC' means no essential DLC for the full experience, so nothing that's announced even before release where even before they've put their hard-earned cash down, fans know what they're buying isn't the full version. Another case in point is the companion app that launched alongside Unity, containing a key game mode from the previous titles in the managing of your mini assassin army - yet didn't receive anything of a meaningful wink or a nod in the main game. Whether you were sick of sending your troops across the world or not, relegating key content to an optional app - or having said app trigger chests to unlock in your game - is just plain stupid. Aside from Freedom Cry, AC's DLC has been relatively pointless too - Unity's Dead Kings had nothing to write home about aside from a cool-looking Guillotine Gun (something that should've been in the main game), and so instead of dedicating resources or leaving things out the campaign with the intent to pack it in later down the line, how about giving fans a full game for once? That goes quadruple for micro-transactions. Even if you're sitting firmly in the 'well if you don't like them, then don't buy them' camp, the very idea that Ubi are happily promoting the idea of paying your way through the progression of their game does a disservice to the team that developed it and video games overall as anything close to an artistic medium.
You wouldn't pay extra to unfold the bottom half of a painting, and if a movie had a second PR campaign centred around one more scene shown in theatres for a ridiculous price after the credits rolled there'd be hell on - so why should it be accepted in video games?
