5. Multiple Approaches To Assassination Missions
This is one of the only things Unity got right; assassination missions that allowed for a multitude of entry points, alongside scouting the surrounding area for things like NPCs with extra information, world events you could trigger and so on. It's totally ripped from the Hitman series, but it absolutely works here thanks to AC's movement allowing you to get up and around many of the buildings you're infiltrating. The very first AC gave you a target and asked you to infiltrate however you like to take him out - something that led to you feeling a great sense of achievement after filtering through crowds or diving off the rafters for the kill all of your own volition. Unity's were a bit all over the place thanks to not being able to keep track of what affected what or how, opening up the idea of replayability tenfold - yet crippling it by having the options open to you be utterly unsatisfying. At the most you'd activate a steam vent which would move a group of guards somewhere else, and when you've been told there's the option for a 'Unique Kill' yet have no way of finding out what it is unless you stumble upon it by accident - it's just bad design.
