Baldur's Gate 3: 11 Tips & Tricks The Game Doesn't Tell You
6. Positioning Affects Hit Percentage
Since Baldur's Gate 3 relies heavily on successfully landing attacking blows against enemies, you should be trying your hardest to increase your hit percentage as much as possible, which can be achieved in a number of different ways:
The 'Threatened' Effect:
If you are trying to make a ranged attack against an enemy with any combatant within your melee range, your attack will suffer a disadvantage, which you will see as indicated by the 'threatened' effect. To improve your hit rate simply move further away until the effect disappears, making your arrow, bolt, or spell fly true.
Taking The High Ground:
All ranged attacks will be given an increase to their hit rate so long as the attacking character has the high ground against the enemy they are attacking, so make sure to get as high as you need to with your rogue, ranger, or spellcaster.
The 'Backstab' Ability:
A melee character can also increase his hit percentage by simply moving around the enemy and attacking them from behind, but make sure that you're not provoking any opportunity attacks while doing so!
Surprise:
And lastly, taking an enemy by surprise will result in your character having an advantage against them, improving your hit rate drastically. So to all those sneaky rogues out there, don't forget to hide!
