Batman: Arkham - 10 Secrets & Events You Definitely Missed

4. Scarecrow's Cryptographic Messages - Batman: Arkham City

Batman's arsenal of cool weapons and gadgets has grown as the Arkham series has rolled on, but one of the few pieces of kit the Dark Knight has had the whole time has been the Cryptographic Sequencer. This gadget allows players to listen in on radio broadcasts, hack equipment and unlock locked doors.

After beating the main storyline in Batman: Arkham City, players will be able to use the Cryptographic Sequencer to pick up three unique Easter egg messages left behind by a familiar foe.

Three different signals will return three different messages for the Dark Knight to read: "I will return, Batman", "You will pay for what you have done to me", and "fear will tear Gotham City to shreds."

The final code word needed to unlock this third cypher is "Scarecrow", leaving no doubts as to who has left these messages behind. But what makes this Easter egg even cooler is the foreshadowing it has to the events of Batman: Arkham Knight, showcasing just how thought-out Rocksteady's franchise truly is.

Plenty of players will have tracked down Dr. Crane's secret boat lair in Arkham City, but fewer will have been able to crack the Cryptographic Sequencer code to go along with it.
