4. A Nemesis System
In terms of innovations to the actual gameplay in the new Arkham game, there is one thing that many fans have asked for in a new instalment and, if rumours are to be believed, they may be about to get it.
The nemesis system from 2014's Middle-earth: Shadow Of Mordor revolutionised the way that you interact with the random goons, minions and punching bags that populate the standard video game open world. It makes them seem like they have a much greater amount of individual agency and a life of their own.
It is perhaps surprising how few games have adopted their own version to build up their henchmen. Given how Shadows Of Mordor (which was also published by Warner) adopted Arkham's smooth, speedy combat system, it would only be fair for Arkham to pick up the nemesis system in turn.
If rumours are to be believed that's exactly what the new Arkham game will offer as a way to turn Batman from the hunter to the hunted. Which brings us to...
