8. Expand The Sandbox
In the first game of this series, there wasn't any room for choice by the player. There was a linear story with Batman fighting everything that came at him. In the second game, there was a little bit of room for choice by the player. There were missions that Batman could choose to do or not, while sticking with the main linear story. These missions were cool to do, and really helped to add on to the story of Batman by including many of his famous villians that couldn't have a standalone story by themselves. With a third game coming out, it only makes sense to keep expanding on this idea and to move forward. In the previous two, the games have done a good job at paying homage to the comics, with the villians and others in the world of Gotham following their roles that the comics portray very closely, but they haven't been shy in creating their own story that doesn't necessarily follow the comics. My batman knowledge isn't all-knowing, but I don't remember Hugo Strange ever teaming up with Ra's Al Ghul in the comics. That being said, Rocksteady should move forward with their sandbox and create a story that the player can ultimately decide the fate of. Using my previous idea of Wayne Manor as a central hub, Batman can have a list of sorts of missions that need to be accomplished, but maybe two are happening simultaneously and he can't accomplish them both. Think of it as a X-Com situation if you're familiar with that game. You have a choice of missions and choosing one over the other has consequences. Or maybe you choose to send Robin to one mission while you take care of the other. Or one is particularly difficult and you have to take Robin with you to accomplish the mission. The possibilities are endless and having an impact on the ending of a story is something I am very interested in, as I am used to reading and playing as Batman. Presenting the player with these choices gives the player a chance to actually BE Batman for the very first time.
