5. A Game of Cowls
We love the Battle for the Cowl storylines from the Batman comic books. This concept was first explored in
Knightfall Vol. 2: Knightsend, in which Batman, upon recovering from a broken back at the hands of Bane, must defeat his protégé Jean-Paul Valley, who has taken up the Bat-mantle for himself. It was such a popular idea,
Batman vs. Batman mk. II, that it spawned its own more recent event, actually titled Battle for the Cowl, in which several new contenders vie for the title upon Bruce Waynes apparent death at the hands of Darkseid. Dont get us wrong, we love the Joker! But does he really need to be the focus of a third game? How about something like this instead: when we join the Bat, for some reason, hes decided to give up on the mission and
hang up the cape and cowl (its not unheard of hes often questioning himself like this in the literature). But just as he settles in to life as Bruce Wayne,
a darker, more violent Batman appears on the scene. Now, pulled out of retirement, the real Dark Knight must investigate this imposter, discover his intentions and ultimately, defeat this new doppelganger (for the Batfans Azrael was following us around in Arkham City, so why not, right?). One sure way for Rocksteady to step it up a notch would be to somehow
pit Batman against Batman.
