6. Easter Eggs, Collectibles, and Riddles
Rocksteady has implemented an incredible amount of bonus content in both of their Arkham titles. Perhaps the best part about their additional secrets is that it seems each piece was implemented solely for the love of the fans. They included teases for where the story may possibly lead with the next installment. They teased the return of certain characters, provided even more Riddler trophies and riddles to collect, and perhaps one of the greatest achievements to date that happened to rest behind Monarch Theatre. With a bigger world to explore, and even more historical locations within Gotham, we could potentially see a wider range of easter eggs and collectibles. Surely, the Riddler is already plotting his newest attempt at revenge on Batman. He better step-up his elaborate Saw inspired traps to be just a little bit more complicated this time. Even more hidden surprises are expected by fans and it would seem that Rocksteady may potentially struggle with finding new ways to make us search every inch of the game. The easiest way I know how is to reward gamers with unlockable in-game content. It was awesome gawking at the character models, but that only takes us so far. I thoroughly enjoyed the interview tapes as well, but perhaps with the next installment Rocksteady could offer up something along the lines of character skins. Make it something we can take with us on our journey through the streets of Gotham. A symbol of our devotion to finding each and every collectible. Just don't make it a gold Batman skin...I just think that'd be a lil' bit awkward.
The sheer scope of what the next Batman game could encompass is no doubt a massive undertaking. Yet, I believe in Rocksteady. Theyve proven to Batman fans everywhere that not only are they an incredible video game studio, but they also truly have a place in their hearts for the DC hero and his universe. They took drastic leaps forward with Arkham City, and the possibilities seem endless with whatever adventure they have in store for us next. Guess the only thing left to do is wait, in the shadows, for a time when we're needed again. A time when this city needs its true protector. I'll be first in line to protect Gotham City. Will you? What do you think of our ideas? Would you want to see any of this make its way into the newest Rocksteady Batman title? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
