Batman: Arkham Insurgency - 11 Things It Must Learn From Asylum

2. ... But Have Reasonable Amount Of Riddler Trophies

I'm going to put it out there that Arkham Asylum had the perfect amount of collectibles. So did Crackdown, as weirdly, both games had 240 components to hoover up across their runtime.

In Asylum's case, this revolved around everything from patient interview tapes to the Riddler Trophies themselves; the latter being strewn everywhere, requiring either a simple button press to collect, or a re-positioning of the camera to line up a shape between two objects.

In City, Origins and Knight, both Rocksteady and WB Montreal seemed to respond to the positive reception of these trophies by yelling, "OH, YOU WANT MORE?!", resulting in 250 separate trophies to find, and 315 riddles to solve, amongst other things.

Point being: Riddler trophies were far more palatable when the map and world size was smaller. We were far more likely to come across them, to spy a part of the 'question mark' symbol and wonder where the other half was - all round, they were enjoyable to seek out, and it felt somewhat natural to do so.

For Insurgency, WB Montreal need a straight-up less taxing number of collectibles to track down. Including almost 1000 separate checkbox requirements is intended to make people feel like they're getting their 'money's worth', but ultimately, a fraction of the populace actually bothered to see them through.
