Batman: Arkham Knight - 10 Big Things We Now Know

2. There's A War With The Police

This was perhaps the biggest event everyone witnessed in the trailer; gangs of criminals trading fire with the GCPD. It is nice to see the cops being brought into the game for the first time (and no, those guards without guns in Arkham Asylum don't count) as it's highly unlikely Batman could finish this battle with his rogues' gallery on his own, but it does raise some interesting questions regarding the setting of the game. Asylum and City were both areas that were meant to house criminals; the entire metropolis of Gotham isn't. After years of effort on the Bat's part, why are so many violent thugs roaming the streets freely? And I emphasise many as the lead AI programmer for the game, Tim Hanagan, has publicly stated that there will be three-four times the amount of active enemies as in Arkham City. Will we see any civilians at all? The answer is probably not, aside from the ones that will need to be saved in Predator rooms. WB Games Montreal gave a half-baked excuse to their not being a single soul out Christmas shopping, but then again the Arkham series was never meant to be like GTA (i.e. a pedestrian-bothering sandbox). It'll be interesting to see how the events of this riot play out and what the evacuation seen in the trailer means for Batman and his foes.

Red Stewart is big fan of the entertainment industry, with insights into film, television, and video games for starters. Despite growing up in the 21st century's era of modernization, he prefers many retro era ideas over the current trends found in many of today's media. Personally he's an introvert who loves reading as much as gaming.
