There were three things that made Arkham Asylum standout from its predecessors: the engaging story (penned by Batman: The Animated Series' Paul Dini), the darkly fun Predator rooms, and the revolutionary Freeflow Combat System. In contrast to many other fighting games that rely on either button mashing or certain repeated combos to unleash a powerful attack, Arkham Asylum featured just three options: attack, stun, and counter. Yet these were more than enough to create a memorable experience for anyone who tried it out. Arkham City expanded upon this significantly by not only adding one-button quick-fire gadgets into the mix, but also new, faster takedowns including destroying enemy weapons and calling upon a swarm of bats. With Arkham Origins rightly playing safe with the formula, you'd think there really wasn't much more anyone could do. And that's where you'd all be wrong as RockSteady has confirmed that gadgets can now be utilised while gliding! Imagine, being able to throw a Batarang as you dive, full-force towards a foe - the innovation hasn't stopped there as the Predator sections have gotten a boost as well. Multiple takedowns can be chained together in what Hill has dubbed "fear takedowns", so long as you aren't seen by any gunmen. Even older knockout methods will be getting upgrades, as it's been revealed that Batman will be able to takeout several thugs at once through a grate. Remember, they're definitely keeping more upgrades under wraps till at least E3, so we're just giving you the icing on the cake.
Red Stewart is big fan of the entertainment industry, with insights into film, television, and video games for starters. Despite growing up in the 21st century's era of modernization, he prefers many retro era ideas over the current trends found in many of today's media. Personally he's an introvert who loves reading as much as gaming.
