If there is anything substantial to be taken out of the trailer from a story standpoint, it's that even a year later after failing to uphold his one rule at the end of Arkham City, Batman is mentally distraught and seemingly broken. In general, the entire father to son monologue seems to hint that this will be a very personal story not just for Batman, but Bruce Wayne. Going bigger and bolder every step of the way also worked out tremendously for Christopher Nolan and his deeply provocative Dark Knight Trilogy, although either he or Warner Brothers. didn't quite have the gall to make the toughest choice of all; killing off the bat. It certainly seems as if Christopher Nolan wanted to, but wasn't allowed to; apparently it's just too risky of a decision to implement in a major Hollywood blockbuster film. Video games are different though and seemingly have no rules aside from ensuring that the characters are accurately represented. It's also already evident that Rocksteady isn't afraid to kill off major characters for some emotionally traumatic endings. Arkham City's ending scene of Batman cradling a lifeless Joker in his arms is the type of shocking moment that forever prints itself into the mind of anyone that experiences it. The Joker is dead; why not end the trilogy with a heroically tragic death from Batman that ripples throughout the gaming world. A bold decision like that wouldn't just create an unforgettable moment; it would cement the entire Arkham trilogy as one of the greatest in the industry. Agree or disagree?
