Batman: Arkham Knight: 10 Things It Must Learn From Shadow Of Mordor

8. Legendary Weapons?

In keeping with the mythos of the Lord Of The Rings (where most weapons have their own personality, name and style), Shadow Of Mordor allows you to upgrade Talion's weapons and turn them into iconic, legendary items. The Rune system lets you add your own personal touch to the weapon, giving you customised benefits and advantages; for example, restoring health when hitting a headshot with the bow. There's also several side missions which focus on each individual weapon; once all are completed, the weapon gets 'reforged' with a new appearance, giving it an improved legendary look and feel. This feeling of advancement and progress is unparalleled; most video games allow you to upgrade and improve your equipment but how many make you feel like you're literally forging a legend? With the Rune system as an added bonus, wielding a weapon that feels genuinely unique is an awesome feel. It would be a little weird to regard Batman's weaponry as legendary though, given that his weapon of choice is his fists (he probably doesn't want to 'reforge' those). Still, Rocksteady could easily rework the system and reapply it to Arkham Knight; even just implementing the Rune system would give an added dose of player customisation and choice. Plus, the idea of forging legendary items and creating memorable weapons ties in nicely to the Arkham Knight title; it's a neat idea but one we probably won't end up seeing.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
