Batman: Arkham Knight - 12 Superhero Franchises Rocksteady Must Tackle Next

7. Spider-Man

Though Rocksteady are somewhat bound to Warner Bros. (who own DC Comics) there's always a small chance that they could make the crossing to Marvel. It's not as if it'd be an unpopular move, as DC's main rival has just as many intriguing and diverse characters as they do - if not more. Without a doubt the face of Marvel in its current form, Spider-Man has a reach like no other, and also happens to have an incredibly varied set of interpretations - all just as good as the other. Of course the safe choice would be to focus on Peter Parker, but like Shattered Dimensions showed often the non-Parker Spider-Men are the most interesting. One character worthy of note is Miles Morales, the Ultimate Spider-Man who has found a new home in the post Secret Wars timeline of Marvel's main comics universe. No matter who Rocksteady choose to go with, any Spidey title that they tackle should really focus on the web-slinger's manoeuvrability and agility as a crime fighter. Unlike the other characters on this list Spider-Man isn't short of good releases either, with the friendly neighbourhood hero enjoying titles like Spider-Man 2 and its Ultimate spinoff as well. It'd mean Rocksteady would have a lot to live up to, but there's no doubt they could carve out something unique to really entice players to something new with the wall-crawler.
Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
