As reported through a major 'script leak' earlier in the year (that was later thought to be false due to plot holes), Bruce's nearest and dearest finally bites the big one due to old age in Arkham Knight. It makes sense really, as the Rocksteady version of Alfred has seen and been through a hell of a lot with Bruce, and as AK is already another year after the traumatic events of City, it's not too much of a leap to accept Alfred gently passing away. Of course old age isn't the only way Alfred could bow out from the series. He's rarely touched in the comics and regarded more as a 'no go area', with harming or causing any discomfort usually making Bruce don the cape and bring a wave of broken bones with him. So, if Rocksteady are looking for a way to really get to Batman following his indirect breaking of the 'one rule' and allowing Joker to die alongside going into territory that's rarely tackled elsewhere, this could be it.
