4. The Bloated Villain Roster
Arkham Asylum featured a carefully selected cast of antagonists led by The Joker. None of the villains were there just for the sake of it and every boss fight seemed to occur organically as part of the game's narrative. The same can't be said for its sequel which was a bloated mess by comparison. There was just too much going on; Dr Strange's ominous Protocol 10 countdown, The Joker's and Batman's illness', The Penguin's merry band of goons doing their thing - each time you encountered a new threat, it kind of made you forget about the last one. There wasn't that sense of urgency that was so prevalent in Arkham Asylum and the whole thing lacked cohesion, which was made worse by the amount of unnecessary villain cameos in the game. What was the point in Harvey Two-Face and Poison Ivy being in the game for about ten minutes? Rocksteady don't have to do anything new to fix this. All they have to do take the same approach as with Arkham Asylum because it worked brilliantly. The Arkham Knight is a mysterious and intriguing antagonist and it would be a shame for him to get lost in the shuffle of copious villains.

When I'm not playing games, I'm probably either writing about them somewhere or singing stupid songs inspired by them. Or eating pizza.
