Batman: Arkham Knight - 8 Reasons It Should End The Franchise

2. There's No Joker

Even though every other villain from the Rogues Gallery is coming back for one more bite of the Bat-cherry, the lanky Clown Prince himself is (hopefully) going to remain missing from this instalment, if Rocksteady keep tight hold of their own artistic decision to kill him off at the end of City anyway. It's both a good and bad thing though, because although we've now got an inclusion of the new titular villain who could still turn out to be Joker himself, the very fact that Batman's main arch-nemesis is nowhere to be found puts all the onus on this character's reveal, and by proxy makes us look to the rest of the villainous cast to generate some hype; the majority of which is falling on Scarecrow's shoulders. Can you say that you're really looking forward to another dreamy showdown with some slightly-awkward platforming sections and old sackhead himself prodding Bruce's Parents Button over and over again? They were a very unique way of providing insight into Wayne's fractured and broken psyche back in 2009, but with Scarecrow being one of the main villains in Knight there's going to be a heavy reliance on more of these nightmarish showdowns rather than something based in reality - which we got at the end of both Asylum and City.
