Batman: Arkham Knight DLC - 7 Reasons The Season Pass Is A Total Failure

7. Nobody Wants (To Pay For) The Racetracks

I mean, you've gotta hand it to Rocksteady, they're not abating from the notion of "The Batmobile is the best thing ever!" for one second. Scratch the reviews that said it ruined the game or felt unnecessary, they had a solid innovation to the core Arkham game formula (something I personally really liked), and they're going to supplement that with a bevy of Riddler trophies and additional raceways going forward. The thing is, even if you go with the idea that the Batmobile is liked as an extension of the base gameplay, NOBODY wants to do time trial races in it. Even in dedicated racing games elsewhere, time trials are the things you avoid, and in Arkham Knight they're most definitely not a big enough draw to plump down extra cash on the content. Despite the Michael Keaton-themed skin being pretty cool and the associated 1989 racetrack being loaded with everything from tiny penguins to floating snowmen-balloons, if we'd got eyes on this content before paying the money in good faith, I hazard to say nobody would've paid for it. And that's despite the notion such a novelty addition to the base game should've been an easter egg unlock in the first place, not something intended to convince early-adopters their money's been well spent.
