1. They Refuse To Listen To Fan Feedback
Four words: 'Where's the free-roam?!" Thing is, for everything the PC release wasn't (a workable enjoyable product en masse), it still let modders do their thing and deep-dive into the game's code. That resulted in a custom patch that lets you play as everyone from Batman to Nightwing, Harley Quinn, Joker and Catwoman in the open-world. It's something fans somewhat expected as a feature coming out of the Catwoman-fronting Arkham City, yet despite us mentioning it on the official forums and plastering everywhere the devs may look, "We want to control other characters in the open world", it's not even been discussed. In terms of possibilities, look at The Witcher 3 and its post-release content. Firstly, it was all free, and second CD Projekt RED listened to fan-demands, adding a New Game Plus option simply because consumers demanded it so much. They admittedly had to ask for a bit more time to implement it properly, but four months on that game now has a slew of additional costumes, free additional quests, customisable character items and a fully-working New Game Plus. That's how it's done. By contrast, Arkham Knight is unplayable on PC, has charged gamers $40 for a handful of skins and a half-hour of single player content, continuing to churn out "And look what's coming next!"-style videos as if nothing's wrong. At some point both Rocksteady and Warner Bros. need to throw up their hands and admit this is verging on a disaster of Ubisoft/Assassin's Creed: Unity proportions, and whether that means chunks of content get given away for free or they take the time to rewrite the ship, I'd say it's testament to how much we love this studio and franchise that such a complete mess has been allowed to go on so long already.
