Batman: Arkham Knight DLC - 7 Reasons The Season Pass Is A Total Failure

2. There's A Lack Of Confidence We've Never Seen Before

From Arkham Asylum through City and now Knight, Rocksteady proved they're a developer with a devout vision, the smallest easter eggs in both preceding games foreshadowing what was coming in the next. That's a quality you almost never see in any major-released franchise, and as the credits rolled on Arkham Knight, the flashback montage of these tie-in images cemented their original vision as something that was always grander than just one game. However, since Warner Bros. took notice of how phenomenally well the past titles sold, they've seen fit to segment off as much content as possible, much to what must be Rocksteady's behest. We'll most likely never know the day-to-day machinations of what's happening in those offices, but the reality for 99% of game developers is not to ever rip-off the consumer, instead quite the opposite. The overall reception and implementation of the Season Pass is endemic of this; a studio that's had their initial vision for the final Arkham game wrestled away, a compromise being they give up the most ancillary parts of the experience to satisfy corporate needs and create the Pass, yet that means they've got nothing worth showing off after launch day. Right now it feels like Rocksteady don't know what they're doing with their own game's post-launch release schedule, and that's almost definitely down to a clashing of ideals when it comes to financial motivations versus those of the studio's creative leads.
