Batman: Arkham Legacy - 10 Fatal Mistakes It Must Avoid

Batman Arkham Detective Mode
Rocksteady

Batman is the world's greatest detective, so why have the Arkham games never given players the chance to explore this?

The best that detective mode got (outside of seeing enemies through walls), was allowing players to recreate a crime scene and view the events that happened by scanning the room. Yet even then, a lot of this was done for you. Players have never had the chance to put their own detective skills to the test by collecting evidence from a series of missions and finding the clues for themselves.

The use of detective mode to set up and scan a crime scene seems like the first part of an unfinished major aspect of gameplay. A whole series of GCPD side missions could be implemented and lead to any number of possibilities.

Have players collect bullets from a shootout and match the striations to a bullet from a previous mission. Or collect and examine evidence to determine a cause of death. Batman definitely has a lot of gadgets to help him in his detecting, but by far his greatest asset is his brain. The Arkham series has been sorely lacking the puzzle aspect of its gameplay for far too long.
