Batman Arkham Origins: 10 Reasons Why It Should Get Your Blood-Pumping

9. Gotham City

Gotham Following the trend of the previous two games, the map in Origins is far bigger than that of its predecessor, double the size in fact. Split into Uptown and Downtown, players can explore the social segregated Gotham using the same flying/gliding technique present in Arkham City, along with a new fast-travel system that uses the Batplane. However, given how enjoyable it is to glide around the city with Batman, it€™s highly unlikely the fast-travel system will prove very popular, especially now there€™s a larger area for exploration. As the game is set a fair few years prior to Arkham City (one could assume it€™s at least 10 years earlier, given the appearance of the Joker) the part of Gotham seen in City will likely look rather different in Origins, as the city is pre-earthquake and many of the buildings in that game were either new or remodelled. Consequently, although half the city is theoretically the same as was seen in Arkham City, it has doubtlessly been redesigned enough to stop the game just looking like an expansion pack. On the other hand, it does raise issues as to where the sequel to Origins will be set, as once a precedent has been set for the size of Gotham there are very few scale alterations the future developers (whoever they may be) can do to the city. That€™s not an issue we need to concern ourselves with just yet though.
