Battlefield 1 Open Beta: 5 Ups & 5 Downs
1. The Terrific Weapon Selection
There was a lot of worry from Battlefield fans that the new game might be lacking awesome weaponry considering that a) it's taking a step back time-wise and b) it follows Battlefront, which had a fairly lacklustre selection of weapons, most of which felt like they fired the same.
Thankfully, that isn't the case here at all: the diversity is exceptional, from the pistols, machine guns, shotguns, sniper rifles and anti-tank weapons you'd expect, all the way through to lethal flamethrowers, a ludicrously powerful rocket gun, swords and even a damn shovel.
While much of the final loadout is restricted in the beta, the customisation options (where you use war bonds earned in-game to unlock weapons) seem much more comprehensive than in Battlefront, proving that its widely-maligned lack of variety hasn't "infected" the Battlefield franchise.
