Battlefield 1 Review - 6 Ups & 4 Downs
1. It's Visually Gorgeous & Sounds Amazing
And of course, Battlefield 1 is yet another stylistic masterwork from DICE. Though the console versions do admittedly suffer from glaring frame-rate drops during intense combat and aren't remotely as good-looking as the PC version, it's still a gorgeous-looking title whatever platform you play it on.
Sound has also always been a strong suit of these titles, and BF1 is no exception: the gunfire and explosions have a real kick to them (especially if you're wearing headphones), the music fits the mood perfectly, and most surprising of all, the campaign voice acting is awesome.
A few minor quibbles do abound, though: some of the gun noises are blatantly recycled from previous games, and the voice-over announcer gets annoying after a while (especially in War Pigeon mode), but at least she can be turned off in the options menu.
