Battlefield 6: 10 Ways EA Can Win Back The Fans
7. Support For Private And Custom Servers
The Rental Server Program, alongside official servers, are a key feature in the Battlefield games which are still being used by the Battlefield community today, but there are positives and negatives about using such servers.
The main positive is that these servers are run by passionate fans of Battlefield who know the game inside and out and will customise servers in order to create the best experience.
The obvious negative side is that the admins for these servers have far too much power and will often ban players that are doing better than them or ignore bad behaviour in their servers.
Official servers will always have DICE employees acting as admins, but they often lack the flexibility of custom servers and can be slow to respond to players' feedback on weapons and maps.
If EA wants to keep fans happy, they could adopt the best of both worlds. A list of official servers for every map and game mode, but also a list of community run servers with full customisation abilities.
Understandably, EA may want to tread carefully with this one, but if they do away with the RSP for good, then they will seriously anger the Battlefield community.
