Before FIFA 13: The Evolution Of Football's Biggest Gaming Franchise

1999 - FIFA 2000 FIFA 2000 marked the introduction of the MLS League, replacing the ambiguously titled "American League". Denmark, Greece, Israel, Norway and Turkey also had club teams represented. Over 40 national sides were featured, and gamers could play through fully integrated seasons and create set pieces. Increased physical contact, new facial animations, shielding ability and tougher tackling meant for a more immersive gaming experience, though the game was criticised for its "cartoonish" graphics (see above image) and was generally considered one of the weaker efforts by EA Sports in the series. Though the game was only released on Windows, Playstation and Game Boy Colour, A Nintendo 64 beta version exists which contains over 40 "classic" teams, so that gamers could play as retired football legends. This feature was not available on all other platforms.
