Before GTA V: 10 Reasons We're Still Playing GTA IV

3. Variety Of Mods

GTAIV-9

The modding community went to work when GTA IV was released. As amazing as the game was, players thought it could be better. There were modders rendering real vehicles for installation, others playing around with the RAGE engine, and others adding new game modes. Perhaps one of the most famous mods is LCPDFR - Liberty City Police Department First Response. This mod puts the player in the role of the police officer that they choose, the police car that they choose, and the partner they choose (if any). The player patrols the city responding to calls as they please, and dealing with the calls as necessary. A simple traffic stop in Star Junction can turn into a high-speed chase along the Algonquin-Dukes Expressway and on-foot pursuit through Meadows Park, or a domestic disturbance call in Northwood can turn into a deadly shootout in East Holland requiring NOOSE backup. The GTA modding community has gone in-depth with their creations and continue churning out inventions. Whether it be simple clothing options or full-fledged physics alterations, GTA IV will never be the same as it was upon release.
