2. The Actions Of NPCs
The Grand Theft Auto series has featured its fair share of escort missions in the past, wherein players must keep an individual or group of NPCs safe from enemies, with failure ensuing should any of them perish. The only problem with such missions, in both the GTA series and other games that have opted to use the format, is that the NPCs involved are downright idiotic (with common tactics including charging straight at a group of enemies without taking cover or running straight into the path of an oncoming truck), making their protection an arduous and often luck-based task. This forces the player to take careless and suicidal measures to try and ensure their success, putting themselves in the firing line to draw away bullets, often at the cost of their own life.
