1. DLC and Upgrades - Skyrim Isn't Just One Game
Of course, "Skyrim" isn't just one game, oh no. With the
Dawnguard and
Hearthfire expansion packs, The Elder Scrolls V is an ever expanding and increasingly enthralling experience. If, somehow, you ran out of things to do on the initial release of Skyrim, you could always download "Dawnguard" and grapple with becoming a vampire lord, or purchase "Hearthfire" and build yourself a nice little house in the countryside. There is also the updates and patches that Bethesda has released for Skyrim. Bugs that rendered the game sometimes unplayable on its release were swiftly corrected, and when people complained about the ability to engage in mounted combat being absent from the title, Bethesda went and put it in, along with the very cool "kill cams" animation for bows and spells. These two features are new to the series, almost a year since Skyrim was released! It's the game that keeps giving. Grand Theft Auto meanwhile is what you get. Rockstar are more interested in making you wait a couple of years before selling you an upgraded version of the game before. Cynicism aside, there are very few developers other than Bethesda who strive to give their fans an ever changing and continuously updated experience. With all the upgrades and patches plus DLC Bethesda keep on rolling out, Skyrim puts GTA in the dark dark shade when it comes to replay value.
