Before GTA V: Ranking Best To Worst Grand Theft Auto Games

8. Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories / Vice City Stories

There is one reason that these two games are placed so low on the list: They are not that original. Yes, there are aspects of both games that separate them from their individual predecessors (i.e. III, Vice City), but overall the games are not definitively "better" than the originals. Liberty City Stories is fun and exciting, but it does not nearly have the same feeling of thrill and satisfaction that GTA III did. They are essentially the equivalents of what The Lost and the Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony are for GTA IV, but for III and Vice City. There is not enough uniqueness to put them higher on the list. It's not that they are worse than their original counterparts, but rather they feel more like expansion packs.
