Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002 various platforms)
Set in the fictional land of Vice City, GTA: Vice was set 15 years before GTA III and served as the games prequel. After his release from prison, Tommy Vercetti is sent to Vice City as his old boss feels that his presence in Liberty City would cause too many problems. Vice Citys story focuses on Tommys journey to become one of Vice Citys major criminals. As Vice City uses the same engine as GTA III, there are many similarities between the two games, the graphics and game play to name but a few. However there were many improvements made which included the variety of vehicles made available to the player. As with GTA III, a tenth anniversary edition of the game was released in 2012 for IOS and Android with updated graphics and controls.
Grand Theft Auto: Advance (2004 Game Boy Advance)
Released the day before San Andreas and combing the aerial perspective of GTA 1 & 2 and the mission styles of GTA III, Grand Theft Auto: Advance is the only game in its series not to be developed by Rockstar North. Upon its release Grand Theft Auto: Advance received very mixed reviews. Set in Liberty City in 2000, Grand Theft Auto sees a character known as Mike, who after being persuaded to stay in Liberty City starts working for the Mafia and later, after his friend is supposedly killed in a car bomb, starts work for an associate of his friend called 8-Ball.
