2. The Hectic Q4 Schedule
This Fourth quarter is going to be crazy when you think about the AAA titles that are being released in it. You have games like Halo 4, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, Far Cry 3... and the list goes on. The one thing that links those three games together is that they are all first person shooters, with a strong mp component. While Bioshock Infinite is considered a thinking man's shooter, it is still a FPS and could lose traction to some of these heavy hitters this fourth quarter. You also have to take into account what is best for Take Two interactive. They are the distributor for 2k games which handles Bioshock Infinite but they are also the distributor of a little game called Grand Theft Auto and while most believe that GTAV will fall into the Q1 2013 window, if there is even a shred of possibility that the game comes out in October (which a few analysts have said) then it is an obvious move to push Bioshock Infinite out of their original October window to make room for GTAV. The distributors plainly won't want to potentially take sales away from either of their projects by putting them side by side, and the likelihood would be that it would be Infinite that was the loser in that case regardless of how outstanding it already looks... http://youtu.be/Kkl6HrlP1zw
