Bloodborne: 5 Reasons For Dark Souls Fans To Be Ecstatic

2. Crazy Weaponry

Big sword-lovers rejoice! Despite the fact that Bloodborne will be featuring ranged, gunpowder-based weaponry, the game will also see its fair share of ridiculous melee weapons too. And judging from what we've seen in the trailer, it looks like they'll be just as twisted and deadly as those seen in the Souls franchise. We're interested to see how From Software will balance gunpowder weaponry with that of melee combat. It was never a problem in the Souls games, with the slow firing rate of archery balancing out the ranged advantage. However, with guns now being added into the mix, the downsides of a bow and arrow are no longer present. Of course, from a purist's standpoint, sword and shield gameplay has always been the 'true' Souls experience, so we can't wait to see more from Bloodborne's close-quarters combat. Getting that legendary axe, or maxing out your largest sword is one of the biggest driving factors to push through and succeed in the Souls series. It's therefore good to see that From Software will continue to embrace and reward the more melee-centric players in the fanbase.
