Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 - 10 Reasons The Series Should Return To World War 2
10. There's Life In The Market
When was the last time you saw a legit, triple-A first-person shooter set in World War 2? With the exception of Wolfenstein: The New Order (which, even then is a stretch as it took place mostly in a revisionist 1960s history), there's been barely anything released in almost a decade that's done the setting justice. If Call of Duty decided to return to the Nazi shooting mayhem the franchise used to be known for then it would be virtually unchallenged. More than that though, the setting would provide a welcomed relief from all of the samey FPS' currently on the market. One of the reasons The New Order was welcomed so warmly by players all over the globe was because it stepped away from the basic bread and butter FPS gameplay that's been peddled for years by both CoD and Battlefield. With just about every new shooter heading to the future, the entire genre - not only Call of Duty - stands to suffer from a sense of fatigue as every title attempts to ape the other. By heading back to the past, Activision has a chance to dominate a refreshing setting that virtually no one is taking advantage of.
