Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 - 8 Infuriating Issues Treyarch Must Fix
6. A Punishment For Quitting
Even casual-fests Rocket League and Splatoon 2 have penalties for quitters. Call of Duty - one of the most perfectionist-heavy, militaristically proficient shooters on the market - NEEDS to foster an atmosphere of dedication to the match at hand.
Obviously it's a contentious issue, given the idea that mandated punishment flies in the face of COD being any gamer's go-to FPS of choice, but I'd argue the level of skill you need to play means you're putting considerable time in anyway.
There's also the fact that no one likes being dropped into an ongoing match. It always feels unfair to play catchup, and Black Ops 4 makes things doubly worse by adding a loss to your permanent record, even if you only played the closing few moments of a round.
Punish quitters and remove joining in-progress games in the same motion.
Everyone's a winner.
