Call Of Duty: Every Treyarch Zombies Map Ranked From Worst To Best
5. Ascension
After Black Ops kicked things off in a spectacular fashion with Kino and "FIVE", all eyes were on DLC 1. Ascension came of this, and remains, to this day, my personal favourite map of them all. Set in an overrun and subsequently abandoned cosmodrome, Ascension was Zombies seen on a scale, up to that point, we had never seen before.
Featuring the polarising perk-stealing space monkeys, and lunar landers for a quick getaway, Ascension also brought forward two mainstays of the Zombies franchise. The Stamin-up perk increased your sprint duration and speed, and PhD Flopper gave you immunity to explosive damage, and also the ability to explode on impact with the floor when dolphin diving from a particular height.
Though Stamin-up remained through the series from Ascension onwards, except for a single usable appearance in Black Ops II, PhD Flopper was never obtainable again after Moon.
Ascension's overly creepy, almost Chernobyl-like aesthetic is why it has stuck out as an icon across the Zombies saga. It was also the first map to feature an easter egg. Though it was not overly complex or rewarding, it laid the groundwork for the primary storytelling means for the rest of the series.
