Call Of Duty: Every Treyarch Zombies Map Ranked From Worst To Best
3. Der Riese/The Giant
Whispers of Group 935 throughout World at War's first three zombies maps all led to this, Der Riese. Translated to 'The Giant,' which is also the name of the Black Ops III remaster, this is when Treyarch turned the background lore and in-game ridiculousness up to 11.
Introducing the Pack a Punch machine was a literal game changer. Now those who had put up with the grind to high rounds with just a Ray Gun now had a plethora of weapons available to take past round 20. Teleporters introduced not only an obvious means of fast travel, but a second 'step' in the map (to activate Pack a Punch) aside from simply reaching the power switch.
The seeds were even laid for in-game easter eggs to be solved alongside finding radios, in the form of the 'fly trap,' which in itself required the power to be switched on, the PaP to be activated, and a weapon to be upgraded to start the short sequence of steps.
Add to that whole experience a creepy factory infused with a laboratory aesthetic, and a sprinkle of pure nostalgia in the form of the catwalk at the back of the map (where everyone camped, let's face it), and you've got your hands on a legendary map not only in the Zombies saga, but a legendary level in the history of gaming as a whole.
