Call of Duty: Ghosts - 10 Reasons Next-Gen Will Save The Franchise

8. Revitalised Visuals

Yes, it's obvious, but I really cannot wait for Call of Duty to wow us with its visuals again. The series has been using the same old, tired engine for years, and the last time the series truly looked fantastic was back in 2007's Modern Warfare. What's more, the release of considerably more visually elaborate games alongside Call of Duty - chiefly Battlefield 3 - has made the series look immensely outdated, such that playing them becomes less appealing with each passing installment that persists on outdated current-gen technology. Next-gen will, of course, change that, and though I'm never going to expect the CoD games to measure up visually to the Battlefield series, just putting a little more care into polishing up textures - as facilitated by the PS4 and 720's more sophisticated system specs - will go a long way. I'm so tired of seeing low-res textures on my PS3 versions of Call of Duty - posters stuck to walls are especially horrible - and if that's something the next-gen cannot remedy, then why bother at all?
