Call of Duty Ghosts: 5 Reasons It Should Be Next-Gen Only

3. It Will Allow Activision To Fully Display Their Efforts In Improving The Call Of Duty Software

The stunningly well-rendered digital soldier above is a result of Activision's new game engine. Touted at GDC earlier this year, it shows significant improvement from the normal visuals Call of Duty gamers are used to. However, as I've previously stated, a new engine doesn't just mean (significantly) improved graphics, it also means a more consistent playing experience.

Departing from the old, decaying Quake 3 engine, in addition to improved visuals means significantly reduced lag (a new engine can better cope with the varying connections of players), less chance of bugs and glitches (although people will always find game elements to exploit), smoother game performance (hit detection, accurate hit boxes, maybe even the end to "I got knifed from 2 meters away"), and much more. It isn't just multiplayer that will benefit from this - the campaign mode (which looks fairly interesting, despite the vague reveal trailer), and the alternate mode (an updated Spec Ops?) will also look better, play smoother, and be more engrossing - to the next-gen buyer.

Although Activision WILL release Ghosts for the PS3 and360, the recent reveal alongside the XBOX One showed a visually stunning work of art, that easily would add the game to a shooter fan's wishlist. With the knowledge that the trailer was composed entirely of XBOX One gameplay, and knowing that the PS4 will provide a visually similar experience, what else is there to accomplish on current-gen consoles other than SSDD?

I'll wait.
