Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare - 12 Things Nobody Wants To Admit

3. Recoil Patterns Are A Guessing Game

One of the biggest changes Infinity Ward made coming into Modern Warfare weapon recoil. The idea was sound: give each gun its own unique recoil pattern that players would have to learn, which would theoretically raise the skill ceiling and make it so that people get better with weapons the more they use them.

That only works, however, if the logic of the recoil remains consistent. At this point, it's taken for granted in FPS games that standing up will give you the worst kickback, crouching will steady the recoil somewhat, and being prone will offer the maximum amount of control.

That's how Modern Warfare is supposed to work as well, but it absolutely does not. There are plenty of threads out there that have tested the recoil patterns of the most popular weapons, and in some cases shooting while prone is markedly worse than standing.

This isn't only frustrating as is, but it stops you experimenting with new guns, and overall makes the game seem far less fair than it should be.
