Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Review - 6 Ups & 5 Downs

3. Combat Is Slick & Responsive

No matter the many justified complaints fans will have about this year's multiplayer, there's little arguing with Call of Duty's uniformly excellent core gunplay.

Shooting still feels as great as it ever has: aiming is responsive and has a visceral weight to it that so many FPS games simply don't, aided by fluid traversal that feels just right.

Far away from the OTT gimmicks which have accompanied some recent CoD games, Modern Warfare strips the core combat back to basics, while not forgetting the beefy impact which has made the series' gunplay best-of-class ever since the original Modern Warfare.

Would it feel even better if Infinity Ward fixed some of the aforementioned design issues? Sure, but as it stands, it's still an absolute blast to play in its best moments.
