Castlevania Season 2: 10 Reasons To Be Excited
4. Belmont Backstory
Having made his fantastic introduction in the first season, with his tragic past alluded to in-series and shown briefly in the artistic, black and white opening theme, Trevor Belmont has shown himself to be an ultimately noble man beaten down by suffering and the tragedy that lost him his home.
Richard Armitage plays the drunk, reluctant, fallen hero quite well, which makes sense considering the parallels that can be drawn between Trevor and Thorin Oakenshield, who Armitage was best known for in the Hobbit trilogy of films. Both literally burned out of their homes, once glorified before their proud families were destroyed by violent outside forces.
Given the history of the Belmonts in the game and their importance to Castlevania as a whole, more insight into Trevor's losses and what he and his family looked like before the Church destroyed their ancestral home and ex-communicated their line is something fans can't wait to see. Equally exciting is the prospect of Trevor meeting Dracula himself, given his family's history with fighting monsters, as well as a certain ancestor's experience seeing Dracula's Castle enough to describe it in the family bestiaries.
