Back in the day the aisles of Comic-Con's many Halls used to only be packed to the brim with the perfectly minted copies of rare issues and collector's edition one-offs that drive comic fans from around the world to arrive in their thousands - but no more. For better or worse, these days 'Commycon' (as Kevin Smith likes to say) is just as much a showcase for comics and a celebration of overall geekdom as it is for movies and games - which let's be honest have their own fair share of over-obsessed hordes, shouting from the rooftops everything from who'd win between Darth's Vader and Maul to why Zelda's Ocarina of Time is better than everything (yes, even that). Although it's up for debate whether or not this cross-pollination of mediums is a good or bad thing for what the Con used to stand for, the fact remains that as far as the big-wig industry folk are concerned, there's going to be tens of thousands of devoted fans filling every inch of every auditorium - and they'd all sell their own grannies for a look at something like Batman V Superman or the new Arkham Knight. As such, their are a handful of games that fit the geek-mould perfectly and lend themselves to the costumed masses that'll turn up, thanks to some of them having their own devout followings and character-specific devotees. So what we're saying is don't be expecting to see FIFA 15 pop up any time soon, this one's for us nerds.
10. Game Of Thrones
Little has been shown of Telltale's foray into a digital Westoros outside of its initial reveal and teaser trailer - but the timing is perfect for some in-game footage or a proper trailer to drop, especially being we're in between TV seasons and every fan would lap up something to tide them over. If you're unaware of who these guys are or why they're a big deal, Telltale are responsible for the fantastic Walking Dead games, as well as the fairytale-gone-dark title The Wolf Among Us (itself based off the great Fables series), and being that the latter just finished it's five episode run and we're already fairly deep into the former's second season, it's time for them to debut something new. So far there's nothing known about the game, but going off the developer's now signature style of cel-shaded graphics and incredibly intense scenarios where you must choose between a series of horrifically-consequential options, we can only assume this will follow suit. It's definitely an odd fit going with a slightly cartoonish-looking aesthetic for the events of something as harrowing as say, The Red Wedding, but it does also allow facial expressions of characters and displays of emotion to come across far easier - making those moments where you only have seconds to react to save a life all the more harrowing.
