12. "WWF Royal Rumble" (SNES/Genesis) 1993
Royal Rumble came out not long after Super Wrestlemania and is therefore a hugely similar game. To be fair though, it did add a number of new features to try and improve upon the original and make it a decent game in its own right. The game still featured the "tug of war" grappling system as before, but this time added an on screen meter to easily tell who was closest to winning the fight and landing a move. Additionally, Royal Rumble allowed you to focus on and attack the referee, then make use of illegal moves like using a weapon or choking an opponent while the ref was taken out. This did add some semblance of variety to the game, giving you more ways to win than just using the same moves over and over. More moves were added also, including signature moves now for each wrestler. These improvements along with the standard graphical upgrades mean that it's a slightly more enjoyable experience than Super Wrestlemania, but not by much. Soon after, WWF Raw would take these improvements and try to add even more.
