Complete History Of WWE Video Games - Part 1 (1987-1995)

14. "WWF Rage in the Cage" (Sega CD)

14 Rage In Cage Rage in the Cage was somewhat of a spin off from the 16bit favourites on the SNES and Genesis consoles. It's most notable addition was the fact that it was the first WWF game to feature real FMV clips, taking advantage of its CD Rom format. This is first seen in the games opening sequence where it uses real footage from WWF events as the games intro video. You can also view finishers when selecting a wrestler and more videos are shown when you are celebrating at the end of tournament mode. Apart from that, it played almost identically to the 16 bit entries in the series with the usual punches, kicks and tug of war system seen in the other games. It's biggest selling point however was the large roster it contained. Rage in the Cage had twenty different wrestlers in the game, which was the most for any WWF game to that point. A record that wasn't broken until WWF Attitude came out six years later.
