Complete History Of WWE Video Games - Part 3 (2001-2005)

WWE AfterShock (NGage) 2005

15 Aftershock I was going to make a joke about no one playing the N Gage, but upon researching saw that it apparently sold around 3 million units. So there are at least 3 million people who could have potentially played WWE Aftershock. I will freely admit that Aftershock is the only game on this list I have never played myself, as I was never once even slightly tempted to get one. Though in retrospect I wish I had out of sheer morbid curiosity. For those unaware, the N Gage was an attempt to win the handheld market from Nintendo, adding mobile phone functionality to the console. As you may have gathered from the fact that Nintendo are still king of the handheld, the N Gage didn't exactly set the world on fire and its good moments were few and far between. It did however manage one WWE game in his lifespan. Graphics were awful. So much so that I couldn't even find a decent cover photo for the top of the page, so a generic logo will have to make do. A quick Google search will get you a few screen shots, though you may have to turn off safe search, as they are an offence to the eyes. Being that it was in competition with the Game Boy Advance, they really could have done better but the game was pixelated and ugly and wrestlers were only recognizable by the colours that they wear. Also, they had ridiculously long arms, as if you inadvertently unlocked Donkey Kong mode. While I can't fairly speak to the gameplay having not played it myself, the reviews I did read were all in agreement that it was a torture to control. Wrestlers lumbered around more like extras from Resident Evil and every single one of them controlled the game. A really REALLY poor game that could have been better. WWE Aftershock was not even as good as the games on the 16bit generation of consoles.
