Control: 5 Things That Stop It Being A Great Game
1. Performance Issues
The biggest issue currently facing the game.
Control looks and feels brilliant to play when everything is running smoothly, but the problem is that on consoles there will often be moments when it isn't. Even playing on a more powerful PlayStation Pro didn't solve the issue, with the game struggling in a lot of large combat encounters to maintain a decent frame rate.
It's such a shame, because it makes you feel like the paranatural abilities the game gives you might actually be too much for the game itself to handle at times, and the frame rate drops undermine what is otherwise excellent, satisfying combat.
The games frame rate also seems to struggle with some far more basic elements. Frame rate drops have occurred after simply opening and closing menu screens, as well as the screen completely freezing for a few seconds after finishing each of the main quests, as if the game can't handle the collectibles and upgrade points you receive for completing them.
It is important to note that Remedy are currently trying to improve the performance on consoles via updates, but it isn't great when the majority of console players first playthroughs will be plagued by choppy frame rates.
