Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

1. Trial & Error Gameplay + Bad Load Times = Sheer Brutality

The final annoyance that actively works against this notion of 'trial n' error gaming' is the load times.

From the opening titles to the main menu - and especially if you want to retry a level that isn't a time trial without losing all your lives (say for a no-death gem run) - you're forced back to the level select screen, then back into the game itself. That means two load screens at around 15-20+ seconds a piece per restart, which just isn't on.

Chances are this'll get patched over time, but as it stands - for a game predicated on trying over and over to surmount some incredibly obstacle-heavy levels, a bad set of load screens can more than contribute to a negative user experience.
